In Tamil Nadu the work is organised around clusters, each with its own rules at the gate. Around Chennai, the OMR IT corridor in Chengalpattu runs multi-tenant campuses with visitor screening and night-shift transport escorting, the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam corridor in Kancheepuram runs automobile and electronics plants on continuous shifts, and Tiruvallur adds hazardous-chemical SIPCOT units and the Ennore port and power belt. Chennai itself combines IT campuses, retail high streets, a working port and the Manali petrochemical belt, and Hosur in Krishnagiri adds vehicle and electronics plants with shift-change crowd handling and contractor screening on the Bengaluru border.

Inland, the clusters are export textiles, leather and engineering. Tiruppur's knitwear units carry export garment stock, a migrant workforce on rotating shifts and effluent plants under regulatory scrutiny, while Karur's home-textile units and Erode's dyeing houses and turmeric godowns need stock-gate control and weighbridge supervision. The leather belt of Ranipet and the Ambur-Vaniyambadi corridor in Tirupathur runs tanneries with chemical stores and effluent plants and export footwear warehouses with container movement to the ports. Coimbatore's engineering units and foundries, and Salem's steelworks, thermal station and chemicals complex, call for gate passes and material-out control.

The south and the delta work to different calendars. Thoothukudi's port and chemical and fertiliser plants operate under documented access and material-movement controls while its salt pans are covered by patrol, and Tiruchirappalli's defence and public-sector plants impose documented access and material-out controls. On the Cauvery delta in Thanjavur and Mayiladuthurai, rice mills and procurement centres peak at harvest, while plantation estates and resorts in the Nilgiris swing with the season. Hospitals and campuses set the pattern in Vellore and Madurai, where visitor and attendant control are the core of the work, and pilgrim crowds peak at Rameswaram, at Madurai's Chithirai festival and at Karthigai Deepam in Tiruvannamalai.
