A dog squad is a team of trained detection or patrol dogs, each deployed with its own handler as a pair. Our K9 units screen venues, vehicles, baggage, mail and perimeters for explosives or narcotics, and patrol large sites at night, working to a documented search pattern for your site and within each dog’s working window.

What the units do
Detection, screening and patrol
Explosive detection
Pre-event and routine sweeps of venues, vehicles, baggage, mail and perimeters.
Narcotics detection
Screening at campus, workplace and residential sites with a policy requirement.
Vehicle screening
Entry-point screening at plants and secure sites.
Perimeter and patrol
Handler-led patrol of large sites, warehousing and open ground, particularly at night.
Event access
A sweep before doors open, and standing screening during the event.
How we work
How a K9 dog squad deployment runs
Site brief
First, you tell us the site and what you need us to detect.
The pair
Next, we name the dog and handler for your site.
Search pattern
A documented pattern for your site, planned within the dog’s working window.
Deployment
Then sweeps and screening run to the pattern, and we do not stretch the window.

Common questions
What is a dog squad in security?
A dog squad in security is a handler-and-dog unit trained in one discipline: explosive detection, narcotics detection or patrol. Handler and dog train and deploy as a pair, and we keep the pairing consistent. Detection teams screen vehicles, baggage and perimeters and sweep venues before doors open; patrol teams cover large sites and open ground at night.
What can a security dog actually detect?
Explosives or narcotics, depending on the dog’s training discipline. A trained explosives-detection dog screens vehicles, baggage and perimeters faster and more reliably than a hand search. A patrol dog deters, and its handler is the working half of the team.
Why does a detection dog need regular re-certification?
Because a detection dog’s reliability decays without regular blind-search training. Re-certification shows that the dog still finds what it was trained to find, so ask any K9 provider who certified the dog, in which discipline, and the date of its last revalidation. Each of our dogs trains and deploys with its own handler.
When is a K9 team worth it over more guards?
Where the risk is screening throughput, such as vehicle gates, goods-in and event entry, or where a perimeter is too large to watch. For static observation of a single entrance, more officers are usually the better spend, and we will say so.
What should we ask any K9 provider?
Who certified the dog, in which discipline, and the date of its last revalidation; whether the handler is certified and how long the pair has worked together; what the working window is; the documented search pattern for your site; and the health record.
